Free Guided Local Rides
Get Out On Your Bike

If you'd like to get out on your bike, why not try one of the easy local rides we've mapped out for you. These rides are all on quiet backroads and are a great way to see how easy and enjoyable it is to get to interesting local places by bike.

Wheely Good Communities Rides

We can organise rides to take you out, you can join a ride we've scheduled or you can look up the maps and organise your own outing. We can even provide a route card for you and bikes. What's more if you want to borrow a tag along, trailer or child seat to take the children out we can lend you that too, for free.

All the ride and route details are here online and if you want more help or information drop us an email or give us call on 01524 782351.

Other locally organised rides

The Sticky Bun Club is another locally organised ride for ladies with bicycles. As the name suggests these rides are about cake and coffee at a nearby cafe, oh and you cycle there and back. The rides are slow, social and non-competitive, along quiet country roads and the occasional bridlepath. Rides run every other week on a Sunday afternoon and leave from and return to Yealand Redmayne. If you're interested in joining a ride, you can get more details by emailing vascycling@mac.com

Kendal and District Cycle Scene also lead easy grade on road rides (10-20 miles) on Tuesday evenings, some of which start in Milnthorpe and others which ride through local villages.

If you like it rough, then the South Lakes Group of The Rough Stuff Fellowship also run regular off road rides. You can get details of events and membership from their website.

Let us be your guide

We're happy to act as guides and take you out on these rides, on your own or in family or other groups. When we run these rides guided the emphasis is on being out, riding together and enjoying places on your doorstep. Rides are over shortish distances, mostly on quiet backroads and run at an easy pace, always accommodating the needs of the slowest. We can stop as often as you want to and are happy to offer tips on routes and riding safely as we go.

To help you choose rides appropriate to your experience, we've graded the rides. Our rides policy answers common questions about organised rides, how we run them, what you can expect, bike suitability and what you will need to bring. Please read this important information before coming on a ride.

So why not join in, choose a suitable ride and get out on your bike.
